16. Casino operators have, of course, prospered as a result of the legalization of gambling
in the United States, but of all the communities that have tried to increase their revenues
by opening gambling establishments, only the Native American tribes who opened
casinos on their reservations have succeeded.
(1) It was not only casino operators who favored the legalization of gambling in the
United States; other groups, such as Native American tribes who were interested in
opening casinos, also supported the change.
(2) The legalization of gambling in the United States has had the greatest effect
on casino operators, especially those on Native American reservations, but
communities with high-revenue gambling establishments have, of course, also
benefited.
(3) Once gambling was legalized in the United States, many Native American tribes
opened casinos, but they – as well as other casino operators and communities with
gambling establishments – were unable to increase their revenues.
(4) Aside from casino operators, the only groups that have profited from the
legalization of gambling in the United States have been the Native American tribes
who opened casinos on their reservations.

18. The Internet has evolved a great deal since its inception and will no doubt continue to
do so.
(1) The Internet has changed our lives in ways that could not have been anticipated and
will probably continue to do so for years to come.
(2) The Internet will surely continue to undergo significant growth and change, as it has
since it was first launched.
(3) If the Internet does not continue to evolve, it will doubtless be replaced by another
form of technology.
(4) The Internet has quickly become an essential part of everyday life and will most
likely remain so in the future.
